Photo sharing sites?

Myself and a small group of friends often take pictures of our children together whenever we meet up. And whenever we remember, we either email them or post up on Facebook so we can view them.

Since between us we have so many photos of our children, we do not want to post them all onto Facebook or send out numerous emails.
I'm a bit overwhelmed by all these photo-sharing websites and 'clouds' .
What would be the best photo-sharing site that would enable us to log into the same account/album and upload and download pics to and from that account ?

You could start your own closed group on facebook where only yourself and your invited friends could upload or view any pics or posts.
