Getting IT support by phone for the laptop

I want to look into getting IT support by phone for my laptop whenever I have a problem. I have an ASUS and they don't do it, I think Toshiba gave me a year, and before that I had PC world or something. Willing to pay around a tenner per month.
Basically my shockwave and plug ins keep crashing and I don't know what to do, I don't know how to back up files, my laptop has been getting slower etc. I need someone to help with the basics as I can't do it myself. Any recommendations?

Instead of continually paying for support by phone (i.e. getting someone else to sort problems), you could put some money into getting some lessons in basic use (a lot of libraries have something like this), then combining that with the wonderful support here to help you build on your own knowledge to get your computer working just right!
(Also, £10 per month is probably much more than it would require. The PCW one is £40 per year)Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I have brain fog and it just frustrates me, I did try a web design course ironically. Are there any other ones apart from pcw?0 -

I also have very bad brain fog.....BUT the Techie people on here are very helpful and generally patient with us non - Techie folks!?!?
People like Closed and others give their time to answer people's problems etc.
So why don't you try to work your way through that how to speed up a slow PC Article Closed linked to. I managed to do it and even added RAM to my desktop with help from people on here. :j It made a huge difference and has lasted a few yrs since!
I know EXACTLY how frustrating it can be and make you feel
But believe me it is also satisfying to learn new things and be able to sort it out yourself.....eventually....albeit with a little help from people on here! :rotfl:Even with my rubbish concentration I now probably know how to do quite a few things that a lot of my friends (with no concentration issues) wouldn't have a clue about!
The most important thing is to do a back up!! I didn't because I never knew how to for years and used to worry what if......but once explained to me I did it, still do regular and one less thing to worry about iykwim!!
Don't take any of that the wrong way I'm not getting on my soapbox or owt just trying to show that it can be done!

good advice above
Another possible alternative is to find a good reputable local guy who may be able to either give phone support and/or remote (teamviewer-type) support...I do this with family and some customers and it often can sort out some minor niggles quickly and easily

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

My friends and family assume I can fix anything with a plug for free as I "work in IT"
I now remind them of my day rate and refer them all to Google now as that usually provides the fix.0 -
There are a myriad of tech support forums and websites all over the web.
Sometimes, all it takes is a google of your symptoms to find umpteen versions of the solution.
Most, if not all, are FREE!0 -

The only problem I find with this is it sometimes complicates the situation more as you often get conflicting answers. That's why it is helpful having someone to ask!
