Since I recieved my new pc last week I cant send or recieve any attachments in any shape or form. I keep getting a mail delivery system message.
I rang my ISP technical support (somewhere in India >:( ) who said it was my anti virus settings (I have mcafee installed) and to get in touch with them and tell them to lower my security. This I tried but they dont have a tel number and I got sick of waiting for an online operator.
So before I bin mcfee altogether and go back to the tried and trusted AVG that I had on my last pc is there anything I can do to sort the problem out? I run XP.
Cheers,
Pete.

What's the exact wording of the error message? And just to confirm you can 't send or receive any attachments regardless of type (.jpeg, .txt etc.) or size (tiny, large etc.)?
Are you using Outlook Express?0 -
This is what i'm getting:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
MATES EMAIL ADDY
This message has been rejected because it has
an apparently executable attachment "password.url"
This is a virus prevention measure.
If you meant to send this file then please
package it up as a zip file and resend it.
If you did not send this message originally
it is likely that a virus falsely used your
address.

Well it seems like your McAfee software is correctly blocking attachments which it thinks might contain viruses. Have you tried doing what the error says and putting the password.url file in a .zip file and attaching that to the email? Windows XP has in-built support for zipped files.
Also, try searching the McAfee forums: http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/index.php
By text file I meant a .txt file attachment.0 -
May be a silly question but how do I put in a .zip file ?
Thanks,

You can create a .zip file either by installing and running WinZip or a similar file compression utility, or by putting the file in a Windows XP compressed (zipped) folder:

.zip files and zipped folders are really the same thing and compatible with both WinZip and Windows XP.0
