Replacing an Altech RF thermostat

I have had an Altech programmable RF thermostat for about 6 years but it has recently only worked intermittently. So after checking the obvious things like batteries I bought what I thought would be a new one which is an ALTHC 014. The control unit appears the same but the receiver unit is different and seems to need an extra wire from the boiler. Help please!
