SIP Parking Charge- Final Notice

Hi,

I was parked in a SIP controlled car park in December, thinking that it was free from 6pm onwards, however it turned out to be from 8pm onwards and I returned to my car to see a PCN on my windscreen which had been issued at 6.15pm. I didn't have a ticket and according to their rules was illegally parked.

Having read outdated threads on this forum I went for the 'militant ignore' option and didn't respond or pay the immediate £50 charge (which has now gone up to £100). I received a letter 2 months later which said that I had 28 days to state whether I was the driver or not. I also ignored this letter.

I have now received a Final Notice letter stating that I have 14 days to settle the payment or the case will be passed on to Morgan Knightley for legal proceedings.

I have since seen some threads about the law changes last year and how ignoring the PCN is no longer the best option. Is there anything that I can do to get out of paying this fine? Do I have any grounds for appeal as I wasn't following their imposed rules and was the driver? Is it easier just to pay the fine rather than it going to court and then having to pay more?

Any advice would be great, thanks.

From the Morgan Knightl(e)y website. Note the web address includes the 'e' in the name, but the heading on their website excludes it - very professional - not!!

We have teamed up with national car park operator SiP To help them recover a range of debts that they are owed, we will be happy to work with SiP Car Parks as they represent an honest and fair car park operator.

Have you now found the NEWBIES thread and also the other parking stickies posted by Crabman, which includes the detailed thread about 'LBCCC Fightback' responses? We can't write your response for you but the info about how to respond is already in the stickies and we'd be happy to advise on any queries you have before you send the formal reply.

ONLY write as the registered keeper. Keep all letters (hope you haven't been binning them, which was NEVER the advice even when these were ignored).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
