Fold up/Roll up guest bed advice needed.

Hi
Has anyone got any recommendations for a guest bed - either a roll up mattress that is OK direct on the floor or a fold up bed?
Just for occasional sleepovers.
Jay-be seem to have cornered the market on the latter but I keep seeing negative reviews about the sturdiness of the slats.
Thanks

Would you not consider a self inflating double height air bed? I had one, which I recently sold as I have so few guests now & do have a spare room.

They are very comfortable, quickly inflate & are approx the same height when inflated as a normal bed is. They fold down & take up very little space & can be stored perhaps on a shelf, or bottom of the wardrobe.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I would second the suggestion about the air bed.

Or, if you want a proper bed instead, and it's a single not a double, have you thought about those truckle / roll-out beds where there's a slightly smaller one underneath the main single bed?

Unless you go for the very top end sofa beds, you will not get a good nights sleep in any of them.

I agree with the poster re air beds. We went to Whitby, 2 years ago and the house had a sofa bed. Fortunately we took one of these electric blow up beds with us on a whim, glad we did. The sofa bed had a mattress of around 2'' thickness and you could feel the springs through it. For the week, we put the airbed on top of it and slept on that, slept solidly on it. Just don't blow it up to full height, or you roll out of it ! lol

The space is so small that it would barely accommodate a permanent bed in addition to the other furniture. I don't get many guests anyway - hence the need for something which can be stowed away.
I thought about inflatables but some people don't like that 'bouncy' feeling plus the last one developed a slow leak so by the morning you were on the floor.
Maybe I should take another look.

If you don't like a bouncy feeling then you allow them to inflate to full capacity, this makes the mattress firmer. So you get to choose how bouncy or firm the mattress can be by selecting from a dial. See here to get an idea of the controls that a decent air mattress will have. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intex-Queen-Raised-Downy-Air-Bed-Airbed-Mattress-With-Built-in-Electric-Pump-/380459195147?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Beds&hash=item5895229b0b

Providing you buy a decent mattress you shouldn't have any problem with an air mattress leaking as the quality of the materials should be good. I never had a problem with my one & it was used quite a few times.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

Try Slumber Slumber the customer support is second to none! We have had beds off them in the past and when inflated and covered people did not know it was an inflatable !

I've gone ahead and ordered this one

They get good reviews so fingers crossed. Thanks to everyone who suggested raised. Apart from anything else if they do deflate slightly at least you won't end up on the floor!
