can a council home be taken away if the household income gets bigger?

    In a word? No. If you received housing benefit, for example, that would be stopped, but once you have a council house, it's yours as long as you need it, as long as you behave!

    we dont recieve benefits. my fiance got a flat off the council. i met her at a later date and moved in. we have recieved a questionaire from the council, presumably sent to everyone saying its just to update there information and it has no affect on any of our rights etc. one question was asking what our ni number was

    Lee I would challenge them under the data protection act. Council housing is needs dependant but only when you are allocated a house, you can be a millionaire and still keep it.
    I am sure i read on a housing officers job description about checks to confirm tennant id, as allocation in some areas has to fullfill certain imigration criteria as part of the points system. it might be linked. but dont know.
