Asda credit card now with Santander

I wonder if anyone can advise me. I have an Asda credit card and paid on a monthly standing order with no problem. This was then took over by Santander who operate a 4 week cycle. They keep sending me letters saying I am missing payment or making late payments because they refuse to change the date to the one that I had always paid on ie 26th of each month. This had never been a problem with the company who managed the card before (I can't remember who that was) and they also have been adding late payment charges. Can they do this? I never signed an agreement with Santander only with Asda and the former company. Your help would be much appreciated.

I'm confused? The current Asda card (Sygma Bank) has been out for a couple of years and is a completely different credit card from the previous card (Santander) which Santander had managed for several years since they took over business from GE Money?
Are you saying you've been getting late payment charges every month for 3/4/5 years?
Secondly, if you pay on Standing Order you control the payment date not Santander so not sure what you expect them to change
Finally the agreement you signed with a provider gives them the right to transfer your business to a third party under the same terms.0 -
You should have received a letter notifying you of the change in ownership and also any associated changes in terms and conditions, what did this say? It's unlikely that you'd have had any options other than retaining the account under the new Ts & Cs or closing it though, the short answer to your question is yes, they can do this, provided they notify you. Paying by direct debit rather than standing order would presumably resolve the scheduling issue, albeit on their timings....0
