    Hello

I have a Twitter account and was wondering can you get mobile alerts (texts) for a Twitter user without actually following them?

Also, will that person you are getting mobile alerts for get a notification saying that you have set up a mobile alert for them? (I know they get notifications when someone 'follows' them, but do they get notifications if someone sets up Mobile Alerts for them?)

Basically, can you follow a Twitter user solely via mobile alerts and completely anonymosly? I ask this as I would like to get text alerts for a competitor company's Twitter account, but I don't want to follow them or them to know I get mobile alerts for their tweets.

Why not just set up another account to follow them - make up a name

^ hi bob, because although I go on Twitter occsionally I'm not a regular user, so its easier and more convenient for me to get text alerts.

    Could anyone else advise please?

Why don't you just set up a second account calling yourself xyz123?

^ because if you can get mobile alerts without following them and without them being notified, that would be much simpler and more convenient for me.
