Gerbil eye damage

Brought home two gerbils a few days ago who have been stuck in the "Pets at Home adoption centre" for over 5 months.
Noticed that one of them is constantly squinting, like her eyes hurt or something and was wondering if maybe it's because of the flourescent lighting in Pets at Home?
Or is it just another adjustment to normal light/cage/life?
Other than that she's totally fine, eating, drinking, playing with her cagemate, just the squinting is bothering me a little.
Any ideas?

Sometimes it can be them adjusting to different lights, but make sure it doesn't get any worse.
Mine got a mild infection and I had to put eye cream on him! hilarious!!
xxNevertheless she persisted.0
