Well done! I remember reading some of your diary when I started my journey in September. You made me laugh with the line about feeling for the kids, when they say they are hungry and all there is to offer is a couple of dodgy biscuits in the biscuit tin :D That really was what it was like at first. Now I bake and I'm determined to get rid! Well done:T

Congrats! I have just seen the Tweet about you being DF, well done!!
  • QUOTE=sistafromanothermista;6 I remember our first snowball DFD was Aug 2016  at which point i got a bit downhearted about it all :( but here we are now and i am[/QUOTE]

Congratulations on your DFD! This is really inspiring, I'm almost a year into my self managed DMP and have worked out that I've paid just under 15% - which I should be happy with, but means I've got another 5 years left. I would love to think I could shave some of this time off, so it's nice to read that you've managed to knock off 2.5 years off yours:)

    Tip 2-
change your shopping habits. We now do a shop at Aldi then onto Asda and keep to a strict meal plan every week, write lists and only buy what we need.
I remember seeing a few posts where some people were cutting their shopping bill for a family of 4 to something like £60pw

    Family of 5 (including a baby) - £250 a month all told.

The white board in the kitchen was the best thing I ever bought. We plan meals for the month and I shop bi-weekly in Aldi, Costco and Morrisons (occasionally for the specialist stuff). I buy bulk, cook real food from scratch and buy only what I need. I'm currently saving to buy a half pig in June from a friend who is about to slaughter his piggies. With luck, that'll see us right for meat for the rest of the year.

Having invested in an energy meter last year, we have just finished a year with the co-op and our energy (Gas/Electricity) bill was £1076 for the year.
    Tip 3-
Look at your lifestyle and cut out all the un-necessary expenditure. For us it was the gym and Sky. We bought a Humax box and cancelled our Sky subscription saving £36pm :T Also we paid our BT line rental up front for the year and saved on this too :T

Ditched sky and license both in November. We pay BT line rental for the year which was £140 instead of £15.99 a month.

Very well done Sista and I'm terribly jealous. I look forward to my own red badge next year.
Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
