Just wondering how long deposits take to show up in the account if using the Post office to pay in to the 123 account.

I thought Post Office deposits were only available for business customers and ex-Alliance & Leicester customers? Has that changed?0

One of the main reasons I have changed to Santander is the ability to pay in at the Post office which I am informed is available. I have just looked at T's & C's which seems to intimate it is the basic current account that you can't use the PO to pay in at.I thought Post Office deposits were only available for business customers and ex-Alliance & Leicester customers? Has that changed?
I will find out for certain tomorrow when I attempt to pay some money in at my local PO:D0 -
The Post Office website states you can deposit cheques and cash at Post Office Counters0

I tweeted Santander to check:
@santanderukhelp can I pay cheques and cash into my Santander 123 account at the Post Office?
and the response was:
Santander UK Help @santanderukhelp 57 mins
Hi Dan, unfortunately not. Any cheques must be paid in via a Santander branch or posted to our head office. Thanks ^SW0 -
Also, on online banking I can only request deposit envelopes (under Request stationery option) for my ex-A&L a/c and not my 123 a/c. I think it's been quoted a few times on here that Santander are one of the last banks not to allow Post Office access (for deposits), especially now RBS/NatWest are going to allow it and HSBC already has (although I don't think BoS do yet either). The existing Post Office arrangements with Santander are a hangover from A&L (and from Girobank).0

I'd be dubious about the advice you got. Banks' Social Media teams are rarely experienced in banking0

I have a 123 account, and deposit using the Post Office. You need to order a paying-in book, thru secure messaging (but then don't say that there for the use of the Post Office), and also pre- addressed envelopes for Bootle.
My Post Office happily accepts them - and it takes about three days to show up - and there always dated for the next day (e.g: Deposit on a Monday, arrives Tuesday, Credit dated as received on Wens).Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
Paid in this morning using my debit card and showed in the account by the time I got home 5 minutes later
