Is Bexleyheath a nice and safe area to live in?

I'd not say it's nice, no, but that's looked at from the perspective of having lived in the centre of Blackheath.
I'm sure that some residents of New Cross view it as the promised land.0 -
Depends what you mean by 'nice'. I'd call it suburban and characterless. I'd hate to live there. But if safe and suburban is what you want, it could be nirvana for you.0

I live near bexleyheath and it's a lovely borough. The areas around bexleyheath station and the pantiles are lovely but house prices are going above the asking price. We have always felt safe here.0

It's a bit like the Curate's egg - good in parts.
But, generally, it's fairly leafy, good links to London and more than a few decent shopping centres within a reasonable distance.

My Grandad was the Director of parks for Bexley, and designed the park layouts at Damson Park and Old Hall gardens. In particular the toipery which is excellent. My mother reckons that it was a great place to live in the 50's and 60's.
I'm sure it won't be any worse.0 -

My friend lives there and I have visited the town centre and it didn't seem too bad to me. It seems fairly quiet and safe from what she says, a family area.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

There's nothing wrong with Bexleyheath, I'm only a few minutes away. As with any area there are some roads/parts I would avoid, namely near the Broadway shopping centre that can become rowdy at night but the council are working hard with the police to deal with this.
I would avoid areas like Erith,Slade Green and Thamesmead which are in the borough but that's just a personal choice.
PM me if you want more advice.0 -
Bexleyheath is quite a good place, plenty of different types of property on offer & loads of bus services so good transport links, though central Bexleyheath is not close to the station, you'd need to bus there.
It's got a good shopping centre plus excellent connections to Bluewater & Dartford & great amenities, such as cinemas, bowling alley, gyms, leisure centre etc. and also is close to green open spaces & plenty of bars, cafes etc.
Although about a year or two back there had been a bit of trouble around the central part, due to fights etc from people who'd had too much to drink & got nasty. But then this type of thing can happen anywhere where alcohol is on offer.
Unlike davsidipp, I think I'd prefer Bexleyheath to New Eltham any day. New Eltham is an OK place, but other than a station, a Co-op & a library, its got practically nothing there apart from masses of houses. I'd find it rather boring & as a non driver, I'm not keen on any place where you have to travel to the next town to do shopping.
It all depends on what other criteria you're looking for in an area really. There will always be some people very positive about it & some who can give quite a negative view, no matter which area you are thinking about. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
