This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
TGIF!
Feels like it's been a very long week an am planning on having a pretty much chilled weekend, though with usual jobs thrown in.
DH had his teaching observation yesterday, he expected one observer and actually got the head of department and the head of the college. He doesn't feel like it went well but we will see what happens at feedback today. He is pretty much resigned to only staying one more full year anyway, and I am convinced the place will literally kill him if he stays there much longer. His blood pressure is already through the roof and he is on the highest possible dose of antihypertensive combination, plus his stress level is constantly sky high
OK didn't mean to come out with that rant but better out than in, as they say!
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

good morning all another week has disappeared again, time really does fly for me at least also another month
:):)
History this afternoon and no idea what it will be as its the end of term we have a 'pot luck' week:):)
Just done all my accounts for the month and all's well and I am solvent:)
Weather is even looking good this morning and the sun is rising in a bit of a misty sky but its quite bright at least.
Sorry yourOH is having problems TTFTM, stress can be awful.
My son-in-law has his hernis op. this morning and I know he will be stressed to the eyeballs as he's got a severe 'white coat syndrome' and hates anything to do with hospitals and Drs its taken my DD months to get him to go to the Drs anyway.I am hoping he will be first one down this morning He's only in for the day and has to be there at 7.30 this morning I'm hoping he will go down straight away before he has time to get worked up about it:):)
Right time to get a move on as I feel the kettle calling me Have a good day chums whatever you are doing
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, light cloud with a frost but not raining or windy.
DH and myself up enjoying a peaceful cuppa.
Dinner last night was a change to the plan as when the on-line shop arrived, the chicken and bacon kievs were a short date (still had a couple of days on them) but as we’re going away it didn’t fit in with the menu plan so thought it’d be easier to use them up quickly. Menfolk had the kievs, chips, beans and salad. I had a mushroom omelette, salad and jacket potato. Dinner was also a bit late due to a fatal accident on the junction outside the front of our house. Police and Ambulances, Paramedics all on scene for over 3 hours – unfortunately the victim was a local person and they tried at the scene but couldn’t save them. We live in a village and the whole village is in complete shock. The Police came knocking on doors during the evening to ask if we saw or heard anything – myself and both boys were home but didn’t hear or see anything – I was packing in our bedroom and possibly in the best place to see anything and didn’t hear or see anything. The first we knew something had happened was when we heard sirens, that then stopped near our house and made us look out of the window, this Paramedic car was 4th on scene, Ambulance and Paramedics in cars were already there. It doesn’t sound like they are entirely clear what exactly did happen, there was a car buried in the hedge that had obviously mounted the curb first. I saw 6 Ambulance crew and Paramedics treating someone laying in the road for ages who they then put on a stretcher from the back of the Ambulance and then put the stretcher in the Ambulance and then the Ambulance doors were closed and it didn’t move for nearly 2 hours. The road was closed from just after 4.30pm (when it happened) until just after 10pm last night. The Incident Support Unit were there for ages taking measurements, photos, etc. Feel gutted as have been given a name and it is someone I knew. Today is going to be so hard – there will be lots of tears and heartbreak – I hope the Authorities etc have made plans for Counselling for those that need it.
Was reasonably productive yesterday, got all the washing, drying and ironing done, got housework done and packed our bag. Just need to get the car packed this morning. DH is going to wash the caravan before we leave and I’m going to visit local town to go to the bank etc. We won’t be leaving until 10am ish as we can’t get onto site before 12 noon. It’s only a couple of hours drive away so no point in going too early.
Was busy pretty much all day and then with the events that happened in the afternoon was busy all day and night – my mind was occupied – makes you come down to earth with such a bump – makes you realise that there’s always someone much worse off than you, and life is so fragile.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Fish fed, hubby fed & dropped at work, I've been to the butchers & bought meat for the month & I was back home by 7, I need to get back to work by 7:30, so no rush.
TTFM, it's horrible the stress people are under, it's the same where I work, some people are observed constantly, no allowance made for a horrible year group. Others are only observed occasionally & only with a small class & it's all down to age, we've lost some really excellent teachers because their faces didn't fit.
Yesterday I was told to remove a baby pic I had on my wall at work as it was upsetting someone, of course I removed it immediately as I'd hate to upset anyone, funnily enough the baby pics in the staff room are still up, hey ho, pick pick, head down & carry on.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
TTFTM- Feel for your son. I hated being observed, I was always fingers and thumbs, and the kids always played up!
NMLC- We have accidents outside our house a lot. We live on a junction and have a zebra crossing too. Cars are always crashing into each other, either coming out of the junction, or driving too close at the zebra. Hope everyone gets over this.
Had a good day yesterday. Bed's changed, washing done, gardening tackled. Then sat on my deck in the sunshine with my kindle.
Went charity shopping too. Got some white pillowcases, a brilliant dress and jacket for DGCH's christening, three novels for me, a glass worktop saver with a Marmite ad on it and twenty Horrible history books for DSIL's nephew. Whole lot came to £22.50!:T
Very pleased.
Out to lunch today, then seeing DD. OH is at Goodwood this weekend, so I'm going out with a friend.
((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you need them.
Have a good day.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning All
TTFTM - Such stress for your OH, why can't they see that they are losing all the good teachers.
nmlc - what a horrible thing to happen. Something similar a few miles from here on Tuesday, the chap that died was the uncle of a teacher at school. Always brings it home to you.
HH - Your place is truly laughable!
Carpet was laid yesterday and looks good - only problem is that they don't clear up after themselves. Don't mind scraps of carpet and underlay but the Stanley knife blade was a bit out of order. I think I will phone them later. OK for me but thankfully I don't have young children or pets.
Not much else happening, the roof is coming on, hopefully see a big difference today, there are some tiles on already.
Just done the ironing so that's a good job done as my late mum would have said! Going to put the washing out in a minute.
Hugs to everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
ttftm I feel for your husband, work stress is awful. I'm not as healthy as I used to be but I can honestly say much happier at home than working in education. Sending him lots if positive vibes.
nmlc how sad, life as you say is so fragile.
HH the same thing happened to me. I did take it down as I was so stressed at the time I couldn't bear to argue, directly across from my desk there was a board with 3 baby pics that had been there to my knowledge for two years.
hilly well done on your charity shop bargains, doesn't it feel good, I'm going through a bit of a dry spell at the minute.
It's nice and sunny here today and the forecast is for warmer weather for the next few days, I might even put my linens pants on:eek:
I'm going to pick up my new teeth today. I'm still having some pain in my face some days worse than others, the dentist has diagnosed Trigeminal Neuralgia so I'm at the doctors next week. I shall be rattling soon.
I will pop in sainsbobs and TK Maxx as they are next to the dentist. My youngest and his gf have decided to make hot chocolate with milk every two minutes which means I'm going through milk like its going out of fashion.!
A quieter Friday for us as DGS and DD are not back until tomorrow afternoon so hoping to be sat relaxing a bit earlier. I'm definitely having a couple of glasses of wine, pointed of course:D
Have a lovely Friday xxStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all
nmlc how awful
HH as you say it's all to do with if your face fits, some people get away with murder and others can't f@rt without getting a written warning . It's a world gone mad
Day off today , need to go shopping for a Mother's Day present for MIL , she's nearly 90 and doesn't want for much . People tend to buy her flowers, pot pourri and perfume diffusers and you can't move in her house for them :rotfl: so I'm trying to think of something a bit different , candles wouldn't be safe , she doesn't read or have any hobbies. Hmmmm:cool: will keep thinking
1st load of washing is done but it's too damp and miserable outside so I've hung them on the airer
Need to mop the kitchen floor to rid it of a mosaic of cat paw prints . I think she deliberately runs thro mud immediately before coming back in
Oh well must go and have a shower
Enjoy your day everyone xx0 -
Morning all,
Been to work, it was lovely and not so cold. Dropped into the school I invigilate in to show them my new DRB form and I've just sat and eaten HM bread and HM Damson jam for breakfast. Feeling full now
I've got a little ironing to do and need to sweep downstairs floors.
DS2 phoned again last night, full of what they had been doing. So glad he is loving it. Still not heard from the Physics teacher. I did email him again last night, I know they are busy but just a yay or nay is all I want. I did ask about him doing the exams externally at another school and how we go about sorting that out.
Ham for dinner tonight, it's unopened but the expiry date was the 24th so I am hoping it will be ok
Good day all x0 -
