  • If you are looking for something "that can withstand heavy use", how about one of these Tough Notebooks, that are designed for use outdoors, eg. on building sites?

Thanks again guys for your replies, I really appreciate you taking the time to offer advice. I am sorry it's taken me so long to respond .... my disability means I have limited energy and sometimes I just have to rest :(

Fortunately, the company it had warranty has phoned me back this afternoon and although they cannot extend the warranty they kindly offered some advice this afternoon to speed up the laptop e.g. use drivetidy and remove unused programs. This has improved it somewhat. I will see how this goes and if necessary go down the route of factory restore. I do have an external hard drive so can back up all data first.

I will pick up some compressed air this week and try and clear the keys. Hopefully a new keyboard won't be needed, though it is good to know they can be replaced.

The link to Clevo website is useful - thanks.

The laptop is running Windows 7.
