Query about cancelled claim

Options
Last year I lost my engagment ring in the village, months later it was found & I straight away contacted the Insurance company. They happily cancelled the claim & I had paperwork to confirm.

I have just received my renewal & under recent claims it list this claim & the insurance is now well over £200. As I didn't proceed with the claim, what should I put when trying to find something cheaper. :undecided

  • You should answer the question 'have you had any claims in x years' truthfully.
Most may well say you have claimed even if they did not pay out - maybe phone a few companies direct, and explain the circumstances rather than rely on the price comparison sites or go to a broker.

Normally its a claim with a £0 cost assuming they didnt send a claims adjustor or such to talk to you.

Thanks you I have done just that.
  • Something similar happened with our home insurance. We had an open claim for £0 that increased the quote by £50 at the last minute - absolutely no logic as to why closing this claim would mean our premium increased by 25%+.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
