What outcome are you looking for/what do you hope to achieve? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

I would e-mail them, they might send you some vouchers.0

What action to take? If you want to make an issue you could ring them, email them or send them a letter...include the batch Number then they will be able to check others, they will most probably send you a voucher for another mcvitie's product.0

its quite big for the size of cake its a loaf tin type and its nearly the size of a 2p, not really sure what outcome i want to achieve just wasnt very nice and put me off eating cake which isnt a bad thing i suppose0

Best course of action is to throw it in the bin and get on with your life.0

I would write and thank them. The polystyrene is probably more nutritionally balanced than the rest of the cakeHope over Fear. #VoteYes0

The cake would have been made with white flour. Could it simply be a piece of dried fruit etc covered in white flour that's not mixed in?0

I hope the children were not harmed0

OP you should at least expect a refund from where ever you purchased it.
Complaining to the manufacturer/retailer may also net you some goodwill gestures (usually just £5 or £10 but its goodwill so even £1 extra is a result).
If you contact the manufacturer they'll probably be able to tell you exactly what it is.
As for putting you off cake....to look at it from another angle, how many cakes have you eaten that didnt have a unidentified object in it? Whenever eating food cooked by someone else and somewhere else other than your own kitchen (more so on a production line imo), you're always taking a gamble. However the risk is minimal and the chances of it happening again are slim to say the least. You keep using that word. Personally I think most manufacturers would want to know if there's a problem with a product of this nature. And I would also expect them to send a letter back acknowledging the problem with a few pounds of vouchers to cover the postage costs the OP has incurred and to replace the product.0
