Laptop screen resoloution

I have a HP pavilion 9000 laptop, Windows 7 IE11.


I've had to do a fresh install, however, every time I boot up now, the screen resolution is at 800 x 600 which I keep having to change to 1024 x 768, even though I > apply > OK the change, it still reverts back to 800 x 600 on boot up.


How can I get the resolution to stay at 1024 x 768.

Downloading up-to-date graphics drivers would be a good place to start, if you haven't already done so.

Sounds like you haven't reinstalled the video drivers?

Is it the HP Pavillion DV9000, or is that a different machine?
If so surely the native resolution for that is 1400x900?

Anyway firstly I would look to see if Windows Update has graphics drivers waiting for your machine.

I don't think HP released Windows 7 drivers for it, but you can get the Vista drivers to work seemingly, with a bit of fiddling.

I think the graphics in your laptop are NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600. That's presuming it is the DV9000?

I keep getting a download notifaction icon by the clock from that site, not being computer wiz, I just ignored it

Do you mean you were getting a notification previously, or when you click my link?
My link is to the page where you choose what to download, not a direct link to a download.

Anyway. Make sure it's the correct graphics card for you, and then download and install the correct Nvidia drivers. Then it should just set itself to the correct resolution.
May need a restart after installation.

No idea what graphics card I need, which is why I'll have to wait for the notifaction.
