How to strip wood chip wallpaper?

I don't understand your comment above. There is no point in removing woodchip from plaster before you hack it off. It's perfectly obvious what method I was suggesting. No free lunch, and no free laptop

He was perfectly clear to me, how did anyone read that he was suggesting plastering OVER the woodchip? If the room is to be re-plastered then why bother stripping the woodchip first?0 -

but it need not cost £20 - local hardware stores usually have them for about £8. Spare blades about £2.00
even less than that !

the bungalow we moved to had every wall and ceiling covered in the stuff and painted sickly pink, the only effective method involved a steamer .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I'll try and make it simpler then:
Replastering means removing the existing plaster back to the masonry and replacing it.
Skimming means applying a new cost of finishing plaster over the existing plaster.
At no point was skimming mentioned, either by me or the OP.No free lunch, and no free laptop

We scored ours then used a wall paper steamer we borrowed, but they're only about £12 to buy from Wickes if you don't know anyone who has one. Then use the usual wall paper scraper. Comes off like a dream after a good steam
