Do you have anyone in your area who mends and services sewing machines? That would be my first port of call. They might be able to suggest alternative parts if originals not available.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

If you are not already a member, can I suggest joining Ravelry on which there is a group specifically for Vintage Sewing Machines and they have lots of websites where original parts can be purchased at very little cost.0
