Dark circles under eyes!

Hi all

I have the above problem. I am fairly young, get a decent amount of sleep, don't feel too stressed and drink lots of water/eat ok.

So, I am looking for cosmetic fix. I use the Garnier roll-on but is there anything else that people recommend? I will do the cucumber on eyes routine!

It's getting embarrassing as someone asked me how I got a black eye at work today :(

Thanks

I've heard that it can be genetic: do any of your family have the same problem?

I found that the ROC eye cream helped me a bit, but I don't think mine was that bad. The used teabag trick might work too, though I can't remember if that one is for dark circles or just puffy eyes.

Do you have a good concealer?

I think I need to invest in a decent concealer and feel like I need a bit of sun on my face! I generally have good skin. My mother and aunt seem to have dark circles and bags but they are in their 50's and not entirely healthy. Plus, I hope the cosmetics in this day and age can help prevent and eradicate this!

I feel your pain, I have had dark circles all my life and when I don't wear makeup I get told I look really tired :/

Concealer is the only thing I've found that makes them look better. I did try Touche Eclat (YSL) but it's too bright and draws attention rather than covers up.

The best thing I've found is a combination of a decent concealer under the eyes, with a really decent foundation all over the face. I use a Rimmel concealer (am sure there's plenty out there, it's important to get the shade right though) with Clinique Superbalanced foundation. If I can't be bothered in the morning I will just use the concealer!

Unfortunately if the problem is genetic or health related, no cosmetic in the world will prevent it, but hopefully will make a world of difference in concealing it. Finding the right concealer for you might take a while, some are too heavy, not heavy enough, chalky, oily, make it worse etc, so my advice is see what your friends/ family use and try to scrounge a little try, if budget will run to higher end products haunt the SA's in department stores and larger Boots, Body Shop and ask for advice and get them to try some on you, blag a takeaway sample if possible, but don't buy straightaway, what looks great in the shop often doesn't in daylight or different light, ask me how I know this:(

Distraction by making the very best emphasis of your best feature(s) is a good tool also, I had a friend whose teeth were not very attractive, but she had amazing eyes and really played them up and it really took one's attention away from her mouth, she had a hairstyle that really made her look good too.

    Good luck:D

It would also be worth checking you aren't anaemic as this can sometimes cause (or make worse) dark circles under your eyes.
  • i've just started using the 17 phwoarr paint concealer and so far so good, my dark circles didnt seem so obvious today, though im sure its only really me that notices them. i also like the soap and glory kick !!! concealer with the lightening cream-i actually prefer the cream to the concealer lol

I have same problem and I would not be without Clinique airbrush concealer it is amazing I love it. Also by watching Lisa Eldridge she says that you should look directly at mirror and only use it where you are actually dark & blend... It does actually make a difference.

    Good luck :)

The person above me mentioned Lisa Eldridge and she has one of the best and well explained videos on dark eye circles with some tips to help get rid/ or cover them.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxP1msXNrf0

She basically explains how it not just genetics but could be just your facial structure creating shadows or if your fair then they will show up more.

I've just purchased the Vichy Dermablend Concenalor as I suffer from dark circles as well and a blogger/youtube guru who I love Ruth Crilly (AModelRecommends) has dark circles and say's that its amazing at covering them up. Its a bit cheaper on Escental website at the moment.

Heard good things about the Maybelline fit me as well and also Bobbi Brown as they do corrective concenalors with a salmon/peach undertone that cancels out dark circles.

    Same here.

After years of trying various products, I now stick to the Garnier roll on, as it does a good job and is a nice price.

Just hate it when people say 'You look tired'. How am I supposed to respond?
    'Thanks'
'Thats nice of you to say so'
'Well I can get a good nights sleep tonight but you'll always be ugly'!!
