Got a Thunderbolt data connection? You need an external drive that can really pump out the megabytes, and Promise Technology’s Pegasus2 8TB is exactly the drive for you. Or, to be more precise, it’s exactly the four-bay RAID enclosure that comes with four 2TB hard drives fitted.
The Pegasus2 is preconfigured as a RAID 5 array, giving you 6TB of storage to play with, and using the other 2TB to protect against drive failure. But if you wish, you can reconfigure it as RAID 0, 1, 6 or 10, giving up to 8TB in capacity and varying levels of security. It’s fast too; in tests, it achieved read speeds of around 1334MB/sec and write speeds of just over 1337MB/sec – just the thing if you regularly copy large files, or need to edit videos.
