Aldi charging your payment card twice

I always check receipts now especially ALDI. Before Christmas, I paid £10 cash and the rest on my card. It wasn't until I got home that I realised that £10 had been keyed as £1.
I have noticed rogue items on my bill after checking it but these have been noted and reversed by the cashier so I have not been charged.

I like shopping at Aldi, but I find they are notoriously slow at taking the money, which is annoying.
I've reverted to only paying cash there now.Total Value of wins in 2009: £900 appox. 2010: £730Wins 2011: Carlisle Utd Tickets (twice!), Baby Food Hamper, Straighteners, Chugginton Toy0 -
My daughter has just moved to Sunderland to start her first job. She shopped in Aldi and tried to pay by debit card. She tried her pin 3 tines but each time the cashier told her it hadn't gone through, so she then paid by cash and left.
When she checked her account online that evening the transaction had been debited 6 times!
She has been back to Aldi 4 times this week, with a printout showing the transactions and her cash receipt, but she has still not been refunded. They told her yesterday that it wasn't their fault, it was their payment processor's fault - Streamline.
Now the area mgr has left a msg on her phone saying he can't get an answer ringing Streamline and will try on Monday.
She's really stressed at this stage.
I cant see how Aldi can absolve themselves of this error. Surely her contract is with Aldi and I thought the store manager should have refunded her and then pursued this with Streamline.0 -
I agree. It's up to Aldi to put things right with your daughter and then chase up the problem on their end. I'd advise you to post all this on Aldi's Facebook and Twitter pages. They do not like to be publicly shamed and it might initiate some action.0

It still is considerably cheaper than Tesco, because Tesco have only reduced a few, more noticeable, prices such as milk and butter to enable them to attempt to compete with Aldi. Most of their prices, though, are still around 30% higher than Aldi's.
However, Aldi does have a nasty little trick of adding items into the total bill which you didn't buy. Sometimes it's an item that you didn't buy at all, and sometimes it's putting an item you did buy through several times.
It's all down to the speed at which staff are forced to put items through the till in order to maintain targets.
And if Aldi don't sort this out soon, their name is going to be as black as Tesco's!0 -

Oh they most definitely are! I had the misfortune to go into a Mr T store today for the first time in months as I needed some Tassimo coffee pods so had a quick scan of prices whilst in there. Still charging way more than I pay for stuff in Aldi and the quality is nowhere near as good. I'm just so glad that I rarely have to go in there any more0 -

That one went right over your head, didn't it :rotfl:0 -
Thanks to this thread I decided to check my Aldi bill yesterday. Lo and behold, three items that scanned at 5p each more than the price on the shelf sticker.
OK, it's only 15p. But that's just this time...0
