How accurate is MSE's pre eligibility checker for credit cards?

Hi,

Anyone know how accurate the pre eligibility checker is on this site?

My results where:-

10%-60% Barclaycard Initial
Aqua Classic 30%
50% chance for Vanquis
70% for M&S
10-20% for majority of others

70% for M&S Doesn't seem right :S

I think it uses call credit, so unless your Experian and Equifax have exactly the same information I'm not confident of its accuracy.

To be fair to call credit, all of my accounts are on there (except a current account that doesn't report to any of the agencies). Its just people don't generally search them.

I just find it unusual that i@ve got more chance of getting an M&S credit card than a Vanquis as i don't have any credit history never had any type of credit before in my life not even an overdraft

Do you have a HSBC account or credit card? M&S credit cards are a subsidy of HSBC, maybe that's why?!

(I maybe be completely off the mark also)

  • The result for M&S is insane. The predicted chance I got was 90% last month - higher than any others. I then proceeded to apply and was declined after referral. :(

I've seen other people have a really high chance for M&S card as well but not for other cards. I think M&S card is just an anomaly.
