Sainsbury's Credit card and Nectar Points

This is my first post so please be kind as I'm already kicking myself.
I have had a Sainsbury's credit card and Nectar card for several years and I thought the points that I was earning on my Sainsbury's credit card were automatically being transferred to my Nectar account.
The actual wording on my statement is:
Nectar Points Earned This Month
Loyalty points transferred 700
-Points can only be transferred if you have registered for Nectar.
The wording for the same account on-line is:
Nectar/Cashback points transferred this month 700
I thought as I had a Nectar card and from this wording my points were being transferred, but I was wrong.
Telephoned Sainsbury's credit card centre today and they told me my Nectar card had never been registered and they can't backtrack the registration so I have lost thousands of points.
I have written to Sainsbury's to ask them to change their wording so that customers have a clearer idea of whether they are registered or not.
So please check that you are registered don't assume like me or your points will be going...........nowhere.

Technically they have been transferring the points to Nectar, it's just they have not being going anywhere once they're reached nectar.
They're right to say they can't backdate the points. However, if you pursue the issue through a formal complaint they may give you a few thousand points as a goodwill gesture. To do this, simply give them a call back requesting a formal complaint - then when the complaints team get back to you request the points back, then they may offer you a Nectar point goodwill gesture.
Hope that helps0 -
Thank you Call Centre Monkey.
I have already written a letter of complaint. I would really like Sainsbury's to change their wording to make it plainer that your points aren't actually going to your nectar account.0 -

I have a sainsburys credit card also, but not sure that it has been connected to my Nectar card, how do you connect them.......I did think I had done that as part of the sign up, but my statement is showing:
Nectar/cashback points transferred this month: 00 -

Hello
When i was accepted for the Sainsburys Card, I was asked for my nectar card number. Id suggest giving them a ring, they have always been very helpful on the phone.
Good luck
