Black Horse Loan PPI

Hello
Thanks to everyone and all the advice I got from MSE I have been able to have a number of successes on various loans and cards and all that. Looking back I'm amazed at what was going on with the wholesale debt bank credit boom bust thing. Boy was I young an d foolish!
There's just one more thing (as Columbo would say) and it concerns my first ever loan with Black Horse. I did all the stuff suggested here except going to FOS for some reason and I'm asking under the circumstances if that is what I should do?
Basically Loyds/Black Horse told me that all the data associated with my loan account had been redacted of identifying info linking it to me and that this practice was across the board! I dont have my account number or any paper work but am still at the same address. One of my current accounts at the time showed payment being made to them but with can no further info !
The loan as I remember it was for about £2 or 3K. I drew a blank after I got that response from Black Horse and life got in the way for a bit. Now I just want to know if I should forget about this and be happy for the successes I have had or go to the FOS.
Thanks for any advice!
Best wishes:)

Just to add - at the time of getting the loan (over the phone) I distinctly remember being told the insurance was obligatory (actually setting the scene for the other agreements I got into).0

If your original complaint was more than six months ago then you are too late to refer it to FOS. In addition, you have the weakest mis-selling complaint possible. You can provide no evidence that you were told the insurance was compulsory and any documentation (if it still existed) would show that it wasn't.0

Thanks moneyineptitude. Retrospect and all that aside I take your point. Just been checking over the site and MSE suggests I have to start the process over again. I suggest anybody else in my position would do that. There's nothing to loose. I was desperate for money at the time and practically agreed to everything whether it was legal or not (I'd make a good bad politician wouldnt I).0

You'd expect that but I never got an adequate reply to my initial enquiry - they said they could not help find the info I requested IIRC. Are you saying MSE is wrong then?0

MSE is not wrong, it advises complaining again only in the circumstances I outlined. If you complain again otherwise all you are doing is tying up the Bank's complaint department and delaying others with legitimate first complaints.
If you simply want information, then you can send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter which will cost you £10. If this turns up no trace of your finance and you have none yourself, your complaint is truly over.0 -
well buried. now i can move on. thanks
