Hi

I have contacted Npower as first point of call and stated I do not want to final payment to be taken until this is investigated as I think the bill is wrong. To their credit the advisor on the phone was great and they are sending me copies of all my bills.

If anyone could help me with this I would really appreciate it as I have never had such a high bill in the 4 years I have been living here.
How would I need to progresss this investigation? What do I need to do if I am unhappy with the results of the investigation? Who do I need to contact and how?

BACKGROUND
I was with N power for dual fuel and switched over to EDF in October 13. The account with Npower was closed in December 13 (two diff dates one for gas one for elec) and there was a lot of problems with the switch over, took ages, not giving EDF a final reading and so on. I have now gotten my final bill from Npower and it is 394.82.

The final bill for the changeover period is reasonable however on the phone the advisor stated that the rest constitutes back charges from February. I do not understand as I have regular meter readings and had a few DD changes, and the last hike was to 71 a month.

I have a word doc with copies from the website but as my acount is now closed I cannot access meter readings.

If I owe this money, that is fine, but it is a lot to find and to be honest I think there is a problem somewhere - since the changeover, there have been several bill /bill reversals on my account for high figures, the website says i am 485 in debit, the letter I have dated 18 march is 310.00 and the website states final bill if 71!

I live in a 2 bed flat, so this bill is an incredcible shock.

The first thing to establish is that the final meter readings used by Npower are the same as the opening readings used by EDF.

Yes, I have checked and the final meter readings match. The bill for the final period during changeover is reasonable - 71 is stated as the final bill on the website, however it also says I am 485 in debit, the letter I recevied states 310, the advisor says it is 394.82

The final read would of been provided by edf not npower
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

You will have to wait until you get all the bills, that you say Npower are sending, you to check the outstanding amount.

You presumably are not disputing the final meter readings so it should not be difficult to work out exactly how much you owe.

Most of the 'surprise' bills are usually caused by previous bills being based on estimated meter readings.

When you get those bills, if you post the full information on here we can check for you.

Yeah just wait and go over the bills, they should understand and give you time to sort things out.
