Thomson-problems with changing flights

Can anyone help? I booked flights from Glasgow to Dominican Republic in Janauary. I just realised yesterday that I booked the wrong return flight date. I contacted Thomson Flights and was told that they couldn't change anything and the only way I could sort it out was to cancel the original booking and lose the full cost and then re book new flights. i can't understand why they won't help. I know the terms and conditions (which they are quotin ad nauseum) say I don't have a right to change them, but I made a genuine mistake and am appealing to their human side, which they apparently don't have. Other airlines will make changes so why don't Thomsons? I expected to pay some kind of admin fee, but not to have to lose the full cost of the original flights. Do they really think when you're booking economy flights that you have the money tucked away to pay for a second lot?
Does anyone have any suggestions to help or am I stuck with two weeks accomodation and only one weeks holiday?
Thanks in advance.

Did you book the flights and accommodation separately? Or did you book a package? (i.e. did you book flights only with TC, or also book the accommodation with them?)0

What dates have you booked the holiday for, it can make a huge difference if the time remaining is short.0
-
...logically, rather than mucking around cancelling, just book a separate return flight?0
-
Is this package holiday or flight only. How long is the accommodation booked for?0

Yes, but what if this was a package, what about the accommodation?
Dont think it is, OP specifically said they booked a flight. Not a holiday etc.
However if they did, book alternative accommodation for the remaining days if the return date was too soon. Alternatively if the accommodation is booked for longer than needed, could just check out early.
OP....most airlines will change if the mistake is noticed quickly. However this hasnt been noticed until 2 months later. Airlines sell changeable/refundable tickets at a higher rate. The reason you pay more is for a flexible fare. Seats are not simply priced on economy/premium/business/first class basis. There is also a breakdown within those classes. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
They could have been turning customers away if the flight you mistakenly booked was full, so why do you expect them to allow you to now change it 2 months later?
This isn't a consumer rights issue, it should be in praise, vents and warnings as Thompson haven't done anything wrong.0 -
I still think that it is important that we know when the flights are due to take place, if it is imminent, then there is not a chance, but if it is in say the later part of the year as a winter sun holiday, then Thomson are being unreasonable.0
