capital 1 ppi query

Hi

Have had my ppi refund agreed with capital 1 the problem is that altough i agreed a settlement of £1100 from £1500 which was outstanding and canceled the card 10 years ago they claim there is still £300 pound outstanding which the ppi refund will go to reducing. Is this correct as i have had no contact from or with capital 1 since 2004.

Thanks

They can use any redress against defaults, amounts outstanding, or as in your case, amounts written off.

You've contacted them only recently to complain about mis-sold PPI, so you have had contact. Did you really think they'd allow you a reduced settlement all those years ago and then pay you the full amount of PPI which you failed to pay? The Bank agreed to write off the money owed, but it is a two-way street and you shouldn't have expected a full refund.

As mentioned above, they can use the redress against unpaid debts. No matter how long ago it is.
