Registering with White Mobile

Options
Just a heads-up for anyone who wants to register with White Mobile (for top ups): If you try to register using PayPal as your payment method, you (may) get an error. You can register using a credit card and then once you are registered you can add PayPal to your account and set that as your top-up method, but you can't (it seems) use PayPal for the very first top-up.

(White requires you to do a top-up as part of the registration process).

Why do you need to register a credit card if its a PAYG tariff? What if they go the way of Ovivo, they might help themselves to auto top ups from you credit card before they go under. Seems a bit dodgy to me.

just came on here to see if anyone else was having problems  as finally my card arrived.
Not sure why they need my card though, i thought the idea of using paypal was of convenience :(
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

It's not mandatory to register so you don't have to. I just prefer to top up this way rather than to use vouchers.

I suppose there is that theoretical risk. I just like the convenience of setting a "low balance" top-up that means I won't run out of credit.

Exactly. But once you have registered with your credit card, you can also register PayPal as an additional form of payment. Then you can set up an auto-top-up for PayPal and remove your credit card as a form of payment, if you like.

lowest amount I could see to top up was £5, but got 10% extra free through offer with the sim today

I topped up £5 (plus the extra 10%) using a credit card as suggested. I don't seem to be able to set up Paypal unless I make a further payment which I don't want to do yet until I have evaluated the MVNO.

    Have I missed something?

No, you haven't missed anything - you will need to top up more in order to register PayPal as your payment method...just wait until you are satisfied, I suppose.

anyone else having problems adding credit to the sim? I want to do it online via paypal because I'm nowhere near a shop and also I have a 10% code, it's telling me I need to go to a shop or do it through my phone.
Not had a lot of good from this, as there's not a good signal in my arena and calls keep dropping
