Why Do I Keep Getting This Messagee

Hi

I constantly get the following message:

Your Computer is Low on Memory,

To restore enough memory for programmes to work correctly, save your files and then close or restart all open programmes.

My PC is only 5 months old and all I have open is the internet Google Chrome with two open tabs.

Any ideas what is going on?

As its a new computer have you removed all the crap that was on there when you brought it.

Also run CCleaner and see what it removes.

What OS is it running? (Windows 8?)

How much RAM should there be in the PC?
How much RAM is showing if you do a Winkey+Pause?

How much free space is showing for your C: drive?

    Just done the CC

The Registry said that the PC has 4gb of RAM (I thought it should have been 6gb!)

    Yes, Windows 8.

    I don't know what/how for a Winkey+Pause?

Also, on this new Windows 8, I don't know how to tell what space I have on the C drive. In other operating systems I would have gone to the start menu and clicked on Computer to find out, but this is so different :-(

The key combo (if still needed) will be Windows key+fn key+pause key
(the pause key doubles with the enter key sometimes)

EDIT: did you pay for 4GB or 6GB RAM ?

Alternative to Winkey+Pause ... Winkey+E to open Windows Explorer; right-click on Computer and select Properties.

    Hi

I've dug the receipt out and it doesn't say.

Its a Samsung all in one 5.

I don't have a pause key on the keyboard.

Things seem a bit better since doing the CC. I'll see how it goes before asking for more help.

    Many thanks

Right click on desktop, personalise, change desktop icons on top left.

Tick Computer (and Control Panel comes in handy too) :)

The error message you are getting is about the RAM, not hard drive space, and those Samsung 5 series AIOs have 4GB RAM.

Next time you get the message, right click on the taskbar and select 'Task Manager' to see what is using up the RAM.

To check how much RAM is installed, click on the Performance tab (in Task Manager).

Thanks, I'll do that when it next happens.
