Hi does anyone know what I need to do to get my husbands pc back to normal please. The issue is it's reset itself to 2005 when the power was off for a while. When he goes on it he can t get on his websites because of some certificate or something . Would pressing f8 and choosing reset to a few days ago solve it ? Or do I need to do something else. thank you .

Is it a PC that was made in 2005? If so I would suspect that the CMOS battery may have run out, so it would need to be replaced before doing anything, it's usually a button type battery such as a CR2032.

yup, classic cmos battery gone duff symptom... dead easy on a pc, sometimes a pain on laptops (depending how/where it's mounted). cr2032 is the most common type used. pick up a pack from a pound shop, pop the side panel off the pc, find and replace battery, side panel back on, boot into BIOS, reset cmos time & date, job done :) 10 mins or so once you have the new battery to pop in ;)

In the short term, right-click on the date/time field at the bottom right-hand side of the screen and select Adjust date/time then presess the Change date/time button. Then set the correct date and time. This should last you until you power off/on again.

Yes, the time AND date are wrong. Correct both and you'll be fine until you switch off the PC.

As tronator says change the date and time , SSL certificates have a validity field which states Not Before dd/mm/yyyy and Not After dd/mm/yyyy, there won't be many certificates,if any, that have a Not Before 01/01/2005.

Yes, until you change the battery that keeps the BIOS remembering the time and date.
