Currently I have an old TFA 35.1070.IT weather station. Apart from it rarely getting the time and/or date right, or sometimes randomly changing languages, it's not too bad. But it's starting to become unreliable now, so I want a new one.

1) You can see the indoor and outdoor humidity and temperature on the screen without having to press a button to flick between the two. 2) Along the very bottom it accurately forecasts frosts, storms, snow, etc. 3) It has a barometer. 4) Above the barometer it uses symbols to show current weather and forecast - ie: cloud >>> rain, snow <<< rain.

#2 and #3 aren't too important, but I would like #4 and definitely want #1. It also needs to have an outdoor sensor to detect the outdoors temperature and humidity - I'm not overly interested on fangled weather stations that tell you the wind direction, etc.

I hope people with weather stations can pass on some advice or point me to some weather stations that might suit my needs. The link in my opening paragraph shows exactly what I currently have if you need to clarify.

batteries ok? is time signal defaulting to a central european timezone

aldi had some https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huubi4XzTrM for 9.99 a month or so ago

as they all do much the same thing, the internals may be very similar

The batteries are changed every 6 months for a good brand - one thing this weather station is good at is using batteries every 6 months or so. In the interests of economy and research, I have started using poundshop batteries - hopefully this won't prove to be a false economy.

We had an Aldi one that lasted 5yrs + we now have an Oregon one that I got off Amazon with quite a lot off the rrp.

Would have happily had another Aldi one but none in stock when needed......I say needed...once you get used to having a Weather Station you really miss it when it doesn't work!! Very sad I know!! :o :rotfl:If you can still get one in Aldi for £10 that would be a no brainer looks fine if it's the one on the video?

I've been using pound shop 6 for £1 AA and AAA alkalines for several years now and never had one leak. They are so cheap and reliable I've stopped bothering with rechargeables.

    some leak, some don't.

alkalines tend to be better than cheap zinc oxides. 6 for a £1 isn't particularly cheap so I would expect them to be reasonable quality

I never gave that a thought, actually - I'll be keeping a close eye on them.

That Oregon Scientific does look good, but I don't really keep my weather station in a location where I'd benefit from the solar panel. But for the price, it's tempting.

I've been using one of these for the past couple of years and it has proved very reliable and accurate. It is important to position the outdoor sensor in a place where it will stay in radio range of the indoor unit and not be directly exposed to the rain.

I'm also looking at the ClimeMET CM9088. This seems to the best of what I would like so far.
