working tax credits and child tax credits

I have been out of work due to car accident and now in fulltime work, as I have only worked in the last 4 weeks do I get treated as working the whole year and get a reasonable payment back from working tax credits or do I only get the weeks I worked as was on esa contribution and treated as I was working even though of sick as still in same tax year. thank you.

You'll get WTC for the weeks you work the qualifying amount. You're income for the whole year will be taken into account to decide what you are entitled too (but will be initially based on 12/13 tax year), which will be low, if this is going to be higher next year due to FT work then inform them to stop a hefty overpayment if based on a very low income last year due to being out of work.
But no, you won't get a full years worth of working tax credit when you havent worked the full year. That wouldnt make sense.0 -
just wondered as now council tax want whole years council tax as working so one rule for one as same tax year. Thank you0

yes still employed, but on esa contributions, and yes claiming wtc and ctc, they gave me a wage of 5k as on esa. thank you.0
