Broken LG monitor

I bought an LG monitor in January for roughly £200.

This monht, I was hoovering, hit the tabe it sits on, and it broke After I had a look at it, it appears that there is a plastic bracket attached to a metal bracket that sits inside the base. The plastic bracket has snapped so the monitor sits at a crazy angle and can't be tilted, or straightened and has to be propped onto books to be used.

I contacted the seller, Ebuyer, who advised me it was under warranty and to contact LG. LG say this is accidental damage and won't replace it.

I phoned my insurance and they say it's not accidental damage, it's a design fault with the monitor.

What do I do next?

You broke it, you said you snapped something so how can the insurance co say it's a design fault?

If you have been using it fault free since January how can it be a design fault? Give the insurance co a better understanding in accidental damage cover, as in tell them it was you who accidentally broke it and nothing to do with the design.

I sent them photos of the damage. I told them it was me who broke it by hitting the table with the hoover which jerked the monitor.

Probably have an excess of more than £200 on a home insurance policy anyway, so beside the point.

Really? Mines only £50 (although I deliberately got a lower excess policy as I have 3 kids).

Nope, I have an excess of £50.

Anyway, to update, the insurance will be paying out, hooray, and I will never buy an LG monitor again.

And next time, I will pay attention to reviews that say 'lovely screen, flimsy base'
