Hi I'm looking for some advice please. I'm going travelling to France and am struggling to find out if I can, A, insure my car abroad and B, insure my health for more than just 90 days!! It seems very common just to offer up to 90 days on both these products and no more. Surely lots of students go travelling for a year!! Does anyone know of companies who might offer this service?
Many thanks

Saga and NFU provide unlimited comp cover in EU. ALL third party policies cover EU (It's an EU requirement)This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

LV for car insurance, I recently used MPI brokers for long term winter sports cover. I don't know if they do normal travel insurance but may be a good place to start. There are lots of specialist insurers for just this sort of thing, may be worth looking on a few gap year sites for ideas.Living the dream in the Austrian Alps.0

Stuart Collins brokers and Herts Insurance brokers have car policies for long trips to Europe.
As for health cover, you could take out some form of backpackers or long term Travel Insurance which will include that. But do phone companies to make sure the product is suitable for you, as I don't know all the details to say you would meet the criteria for these.
There is the EHIC card you can also take out, which would cover public health services, but you would need to study the terms. You would be better off taking out long term Travel Insurance. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

Almost all travel insurance excludes treatment that would have been covered by the EHIC
It is certainly prudent to study the NHS site though as some countries are more complex than others as to how their health service works, eg paying up front but then reclaiming etc0
