all games have server problems but get fixed. I have played fifa 14 since release and only had a few problems and the £55 bill was your fault not EA`s0

Anyone else had the problem with EA servers on this? My son has been unable to play for nearly 3 weeks. All I get from EA is the blah blah about how they know there is a problem and they are looking to fix it. I have emailed the CEO (Andrew Wilson, awilson@ea.com). No joy. I have been in touch with CAB & Trading Standards. They told me to contact Game where I bought it. Game say they know there is a problem but I just have to wait for EA to fix it. Great. So I guess Game are just as useful as EA. I do find it strange that this problem only started after I get Microsoft to remove my credit card details after my son racked up £55 in fees (very easy to do by accident - apparently someone's son ran up massive bills on this). I had a message on Facebook from a mate 60 miles away and his son has the same issue with EA servers. Clearly they don't care. Spend your money elsewhere.
Fifa is a swear word in my house. I am sick to death of hearing about it from the OH. He bought the game in September and had no end of bother with it. At first he blamed our Internet connection, until I pointed out that the other 3 xboxes in the house could play other online games such as CoD no problem, AND on a wireless connection (his is wired). So then he blamed the Xbox, which was old,so I bought a new one. Then it was the actual disc to be blamed next. Anyway, we rang EA, and apart from racking up a huge phone bill (cos these calls were going on a few times a week for weeks mind) we got no further forward. All they kept saying was they knew about some users experiencing connection issues and were waiting on the developers rolling out a patch. They told me to do a UO trace, which I did, and according to them there was packet loss on the servers we needed to play the game and we should ring up our ISP. our ISP wasn't interested. So, OH moaned and groaned for months about it, then decided an Xbox One would be the answer. Last month he bought one. And fifa is no better on that lol.
His newest crusade is to find out when fibre is available in our area....
As for your son racking up a bill, my son decided to buy 80 quids worth of whatever for GTA. I was livid. It was my fault, I left my paypal details on his account and forgot to remove them. Anyway, Microsoft were great. They advised me to contact paypal (who stopped the transaction) and then Microsoft refunded my paypal account. And also let DS keep the points.0 -
Queen81 for future ref I would suggest you buy the Xbox cards that have the money already loaded onto them and al you do is you enter the code onto the xbox and the account is loaded with money to buy stuff with rather than leave your card details stored.
Oh Id also tell your OH to think of ditching Fifa and switch allegiance to Pro evo, rent it first to see if theres any problems with it.0 -

Oh I usually do use the pre paid cards. It was just he had about 6 quid in his account and wanted to buy something there and then for 8 quid so I quickly put my paypal details in for the extra couple of quid. Never again lol.
He's a fifa fanatic. He's spent fortunes (stupid in my opinion but hey he doesn't drink or smoke so it's his treat) Even if he can't play it properly due to lag. It's only on fifa though no other multiplayer games.0 -
For what it's worth, I'm on fibre and still have lag. MY traceroutes, or UOtraces as EA insist, have no packet loss and expected ping times to the US. That is, until they hit EA's servers, at which point the lag spikes show.0

Can you simplify that please lol. What are you saying exactly? My OH is still doing his nut about this haha0 -
A traceroute is the path your internet connection takes to reach the EA servers. You can usually get a cross-Atlantic connection to go in about 100 milliseconds, however when the connection gets to EA, it jumps up to around 200-250 milliseconds. This is what creates the lag that he experiences, and I get exactly the same with my own fibre connection.
It does seem to be a common issue, going by various forums. If he thinks fibre might solve his issues, he may be right but there's a very good chance he'll be mistaken.0 -
So is there nothing he can do then really0
-
Probably not. It's really down to EA to invest in EU servers, which they just won't do. The rest of it is just luck of the draw.0
