Driving to Seattle is feasible for a day trip, the Space needle is worth a visit, and then the Boeing factory on the journey back
The Sea to Sky highway is also worth a journey on the route up to Whistler. I imagine the roadworks are purely due to the 2010 winter olympics being held at Vancouver/Whistler
Capiliano Suspension bridge is worth doing, but very slippery when wet
Grouse Mountain gives you good views of Vancouver
Stanley Park is just a nice chilled out place and the walk around the edge is pretty straightforward
I would recommend a car though, I'd have run out of things to do if I was stuck in the city for any length of time
Oh and the trip to Victoria is very scenic, but personally i found it a bit dull when I got to Victoria but thats just my thoughts, many will obviously enjoy it.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0
