Micro Fuzion Wireless Radar / Laser Detection System

I know laser detectors have been covered on here before but there seems to be more hearsay and rumours posted in the replies than any good information.Particularly interested to hear if anyones got one? Its a little confusing as im not sure if the laser detector works seperately from the gps unit as i dont really need that i already have a tom tom that warns of fixed sites. http://www.microfuzion.co.uk/default.asp

  • By Wireless they mean it has a internal rechargeable battery. Which means you don't have to always plug it in to a power source with a power lead (wire). It does not mean it is wireless like bluetooth. I've got the wired version that needs plugging in to a cigarette socket. There is no internal GPS. Detection of speed cameras is by detecting the laser or radio signals.

The problem with these detectors is that they are unlikely to give you any advanced warning of the cameras, by the time it beeps you are already got if you are speeding.

They are still useful though. If a police car comes up behind you and scans you you'll get a beep. If I'm day dreaming while driving the beeps remind me to watch those cameras. These devices do beep a lot at other things though so there's a tendency to ignore the beeps after a while.

When I'm driving in areas I don't know I use my own software on a laptop with a GPS for camera warnings.

I was wondering whether the "The BTSTTM Radar / Laser Detector" was any good? You can see it at http://beatthespeedtrap.co.uk/ Does anyone have one of these or know someone that does, or has anyone heard if they are good? They are currently going for £150.
I have Tom Tom 1 as SAt Nav.It only picks the fixed cameras on the road.I am looking for the mobile vans and laser guns.Detectors aren't illegal according to the various websites.
Can i ask pc brigade and anti speed group not to bother with the Don't speed slogan.I think every ones aware of it.Think about those people who drive 600 miles a week or more. The more you are on the road, the more you are likely to get more speed cameras. Its alright if you are doing the school runs & to and from work same route every day and come here and lecture others.every body is not same. Why would you need speed camera on M4 at 2 am in the morning.

I'm not convinced of the efficiency of laser detectors.

I have a Valentine One and a New Road Angel. The only time they seem to activate is when there's some spurious reflection of sunlight from the car in front or if there is a streetlight with sun shining through it that seems to produce light at the right wavelength for the laser unit to activate. The Road Angel falses far more often than the Valentine One. Also when I use the remote for my sat nav this activates the V1 buy not the Road Angel! I drive past camera vans quite often and the laser units have never activated (and I don't have any fancy or reflective screen either).

I would agree with the sentiments of stevematt and kchok. Try driving on the North Circular in London and with lorries and buses obscuring speed limit signs, being cut up and watching out for irrational drivers means that it's so easy to forget the speed limit for that stretch of road. Is the limit 40 or 50 as you approach the camera? That's the value of these devices in everyday driving.

If you would like to purchase the password then contact me through eBay on the id gpsscsoftware and I'll put it on eBay with a starting bid of £1.
You need to extract the files to a folder C:\GPSSC.
You also need five sub folders C:\GPSSC\Voice, C:\GPSSC\POI, C:\GPSSC\Saves, C:\GPSSC\Routes and C:\GPSSC\log. The first two should be created when you unzip the files, the last three you will need to create yourself.

I'm confused! Is it free or is at a minimum of £1? Or is this spam?
  • There's several versions on the web page.

The latest version for Windows 2000/XP is currently free.
The original/older version that also works on Windows 98 is not free.

I agree it's confusing, especially when you have to pay for the old version and the new one is free. To be honest no one ever bought the old version.

ps someone (not me) has put a copy of a speed camera database on www.poifinder.com dated 28-07-2007 but it won't be there for long.
