Blocked sewer - Whos responsible

Hey
It seems that we have a blockage in the hole that our sewage goes into (down the sewer pipe then it goes into another hole)
I managed to get a stick and unblock it, it feels/sounds gritty.
Is this my responsiblity or the councils?

Sometimes drains & sewers are the responsibility of the local water company. If they do have responsibility for the part where the blockage is, then they carry out work free. Otherwise they bill you for the unblocking. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Ask the Council, if is not their responsibility they will soon tell you.You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

The council ??Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Overflows, holes, sticks, grit, I'm totally confusedI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Nothing to do with the council, unless it's a council house. It's either your responsibility or the water utility's, depending on where the blockage is-which from the limited info given, I cannot tell.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I though the rule of thumb was who was using it. If the pipe is used solely by your household then it is your responsibility. If the flow comes from your house and others then it is the water company's responsibility.0

If where you think sounds 'gritty' is the grid outside, then that's probably normal. The bend in the drain in the grid is similar to the trap under your kitchen sink and you only go down about a foot when it would feel solid.
Can you see a manhole anywhere in your garden ? Lift that and then go and run some water or flush the loo to see can you see anything coming through.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
