This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Early start today, I was scraping frost of the car at 5:30 brrr.
Fish fed, hubby's had egg on toast, I've had porridge, I've dropped hubby at work & come home, I'll go back at 7:30, my normal start time. It make too long a day if I start with hubby.
Molly, I hope your parents move goes well.
LW, I hope you get another lodger soon.
Pay day tomorrow, so I need to do the money transfers tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning Hester and TTFTM and everyone else!
Lovely sunny morning here. Sea is glistening too, let's hope no wind and I can sit on my deck:T
Lady coming today for the Christmas decorations. Hope they are of use.
Wrote to my MP yesterday about Dad. Spoke to her last week and she said put it all in writing, which I have. Be interesting to see what happens.:o
Must phone a few friends today too, see how they are. Had an Asda order come yesterday. £1 delivery, lovely young man who carried my shopping into the kitchen. Rang the store last night and gave him a compliment. Customer services said they would write it in the comments book for his manager to see. She said it's lovely to get compliments, they usually get complaints!
Hope all is well with everyone.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning All
Not had time to post but have been reading.
Been busy with the decorating, this weekend should see the room completed, the carpet is being fitted tomorrow and then DDs bed can go in for DS2. She will need to sleep in there till her bed arrives! I put DDs mattress on Freegle and someone came to collect it on Monday evening so that's out of the way. Glad someone else uses it Hilstep. I have been lucky enough to get a couple of things from the site myself just lately.
Made pasta with chorizo and mushrooms (needed using) last night which was very tasty. Getting to be a fan of making up my own recipes, seems to make for tasty meals!
Hope you are all well, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, dull and cloudy, chilly wind but have already put the washing on the line.
DH up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk. I had fish, jacket potato and veg. The hairdresser came last night so dinner was a late one. Tonight we’re having gammon, new pots and veg – will do a sauce possibly – hollandaise. The gammon will last a few meals as it’s a large piece, so I will need to get that in the oven by 3.30pm this afternoon.
Work yesterday wasn’t as busy as we expected – but we know it will be busy from the end of this week into next due to 1st of the month and start of the council tax year – always a horrendous week or 2! At least it makes the days pass quickly! Payday today so need to do some accounts type jobs later. Still haven’t had the refund for the gym membership I paid that I was promised so will be chasing them later.
Had an ok day yesterday – struggled a bit at times – but managed to pull myself round again and find something to occupy my mind – then get back on track. As we’re going away Friday morning, I’m going to be busy this afternoon and tomorrow after I’ve finished work at lunchtime today – and need to get all the jobs I normally have 2.5 days to do done in 1.5 days – so will be busy and I need to pack and make sure we have all the bits we need to take with us for the event at the weekend. I’m looking forward to the weekend but also the fact that the following weekend we haven’t got anything planned and so can have a chilled weekend!
Had a bit of luck again last night and had a small win without it costing me anything.
Keep safe and well x

Hi everyone,
Happy birthday NPM!
Quite a busy morning in store. First swimming, I'm managing to keep this up, yeah me. Then hairdresser, I hate spending the money as my hair is so fine it only takes her 20 mins from start to finish but because it's so fine it's impossible to grow out. I spend a fortune on thickening shampoos etc, I've just got the new Elvive one that's being advertised so I'll see what that's like. The saving grace is that I've not got any grey, which at 56 is pretty good. Mind you, mum had no grey either when she died at 82 so here's hoping.
After that I shall go to the CRUSE drop-in to see what it is like.
I had a meeting last night, a group of us is trying to set up a good neighbour scheme, unfortunately the meetings are awful. The chairman is probably the worst I've ever worked with and I've worked with a lot. I ended up almost taking over, which I hate to do but we'd have been there now if I hadn't. The worst thing was that the chairman wasn't at the first meeting of the group, just sent word that he'd be happy to chair it and of course everyone jumped at the offer, including me. I think I might have to resign.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning All :hello:
The sun is out here this morning  hoping it stops all day so I can leave the washing on the line until I get home from work at 5.30.
Will be doing my meal plan today for the next 7 days and then getting my shopping list ready for the morning.
Hoping to order our new fridge freezer by the weekend.
Had shredded wheat for breakfast and the last remaining crumpet, now just wondering what to throw in my lunch bag for work today. Was going to make a soup but didn't end up making one, so will get that done tonight!
Didn't drop off to sleep easy last night as was thinking about the crafting bits I am wanting to do, it was quite warm and then my cousin text me at 11.30pm and it woke me up again  my OH just sleeps like a baby, very jealous!!
hillstep2000 - hope all goes well with MP for your dad!
nmlc - they are the best wins!!
Well time to have a quick tidy round and get ready for work.
Have a lovely day everyone :jChristmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Morning all,
Happy birthday to NPM. I hope you have a fab day.
Bits and pieces to do in the house today seeing as I did absolutely nothing yesterday. I managed the tea and a quick vacuum downstairs at the last minute but nothing else got done..... I hang my head in shame.
Been messaging my daughter in South Africa most of the morning. She needed a replacement driving licence ages back and finally got it sorted. It was sent to our address rather than to SA and I posted it off a month ago. The Post Office said a week to 10 days.... like I say its been a month now but she's just had notification that a letter has arrived. She (and I) are hoping its her driving licence.
Ive calmed down after my mad moment with my sons ex (number 2). Just because I set up my Grandsons trust funds she's got it in her head that only I can change the addresses on them. I tried to explain that only the parent of the child can do that but she wouldn't have it. This is the second time she's changed addresses and tried to get me to change the address. Stupid woman it doesn't work like that. In the end I gave her the phone number, a contact name and I bet she still hasn't done it. Thick as two short planks she is (maybe if she had finished her education instead of playing truant most of the time she'd understand... but there you go).
Jobs for today:
[strike]Vacuum upstairs[/strike]
[strike]Vacuum stairs[/strike]
[strike]Vacuum downstairs[/strike]
[strike]Launder bedding[/strike]
[strike]Kitchen floor[/strike]
Tea will be southern fried chicken, chips (I think) and coleslaw (just for a change).
Onwards and forward,
Have a great day all,This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
