Working Tax credits and work hours and other benefit queriesqueries

I'm so confused.

Do you need to work 16 or 24 hours if you have children? I've got a job interview tomorrow for a 22.5 hours a week job. Could potentially be good for me but I would need help with childcare costs to make it worthwhile (have 3 under 5 so none of them in full time school yet) and now I've been trying to work out whether or not to bother it would appear that it's just shy of 24 hours which I would need to be eligible.

I am married, my husband is a full time student so doesn't work but is studying and needs time to do this hence the childcare requirements. We can claim for some from the SLC but only up til 6th June - after that we'd have to pay everything until he starts his PGCE in the September which would cripple us!

We also claim Housing and Council Tax benefit, receive quite a high CTC every month and the normal CB. Am I right to assume that I would lose the entire Housing and Council tax entitlement due to me working over 16 hours also?

As a couple you need to work 24 hours to claim working tax credit, and you need to work 16 EACH to claim help with childcare in your case.
