Car insurance renewal - premium credit

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone (with bad credit!) had ever had car insurance where premium credit are involved. I am due for renewal, I want to pay monthly and my cheapest quote is from a company who's monthly instalments plan is issued by premium credit. I am asking for advice as I would hate to be accepted, pay deposit and then can't pay monthly and they want the balance. I know no one can tell me if I'll be accepted I just wondered if anyone has any experience with premium credit and knows whether they use the credit check as more of an Id check or whether they are likely to turn you down if you have bad credit?

Many insurers dont do anything more than an ID check but then the APRs of 25-35% are in the sub prime space anyway.

If they offer you DDs when they quote they wont then subsequently turn you down unless they find you have lied on your application/ agreed to assumptions that werent true etc (eg about CCJs)

I was in hospital some years back and none of my credit card bills etc got paid. Yet my classis car insurance still renewed without an issue.

Although as a renewing customer maybe they dont bother with any further checks than look at last years payments which were all upto date.

Lesson learnt on setting up direct debits for every single bill. Even if its the minimum payment.
