Help gym membership refund.

I joined a gym a gym. Within 24hours I asked for a refund/cancel of membership. They cancelled my membership but I was told to contact their HQ for the refund.
HQ tells me that they don't have the authority to hand out refunds, and they told me to speak to the guys that work at the gym.
I turn up to the gym and asked for the manager. A guy offers up his services claiming he was the manager. He then takes my details down and then tells me to contact HQ. I then contact HQ problem not solved.
I then return to the gym again and asked for the manager. They tell me he is not in and they took my details down. I waited a good month, no contact. I head back to the gym again and asked for the manager, a different guy comes claiming to be the manager. He says he will contact HQ regarding my refund.
No contact from anyone for a month. I head back to the gym AGAIN. The manager tells me that he did not have a refund request from anyone. He tells me that because i did not request a refund with 10 days of signing up that he can't help me. This is a lie, because I did. Someone who worked for him said he was the manager and told me he would help me out. I then gave a description of his employee who was wearing the companies uniform who marched in and out of their office who was also socialising with members of staff who wore the same kind of uniform.
The manager said he does not know of guy who bore his distinctive description I gave him. He even goes onto to say that he hasn't hired a guy that looks like the guy I spoke to. Then I turn my head and saw another guy who I spoke to about my refund, well he smirked and said he doesn't know what I was talking about and I was bs'in. The manager then begins to smirk. :mad:
What can I do? I cancelled my membership within 24hrs and never used their facilities.
