I suppose unfair was the wrong word to use, it's just annoying that I thought I had sorted it all out and then have to unexpectedly pay more on top. That's life I suppose

Just paid it over the phone, asked the guy about admin fees but he said they're not necessary! So, I got lucky (and will take extra care with details in future) !0

Betfry. Congrats on getting the admin fee nullified. It is indeed quite possible that the mistake was at their end - it happens all the time.
A tip for the future, something that has worked for me on several occasions is
1) "screengrab" each page for online tranactions (I use "Faststone Capture" which can scroll and capture a page but there are many other similar utilities free to use) and
2) simply record telephone transactions (after informing them I'm doing so) using a cheap fly lead I got off eBay and a dictation machine.
The last one saved me a stack when one company who messed up conveniently "lost" their recording, but stumped up when I offered to e-mail my copy ...0
