LED 'indicator' lights on immersion heater.

I am looking to fit LED lights to my immersion heater so that I have an indication that all is working well.

My plan is to wire the lights on the thermostat out to element in so that when the immersion is on I can see both thermostats are functioning correctly.
The lights themselves would be fixed through a hole in the cover.

Has anyone done this before?.

Any lights would only tell you if there is power going through the stat it wouldn't tell you if the actual immersion was working
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

That is all I want to monitor. If the immersion is on, but the light is not, then I will know it is the thermostat that has failed. If the light is on and the water is not heating, then I will know it is the element.

    That's what multimeters are for.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

You might find it easier to use neon indicator lamps, rather than LEDs, as they are designed to run on much higher voltages.

I wouldn't even attempt to give advice on how to modify the immersion heater, though. Get it wrong, and it could be unsafe.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
