Basically the two coldest rooms are the kitchen/diner & the living room - both at the back of the house. Both have UPVC patio doors leading to the garden.
I'm not sure but I think I'm losing a lot of heat through these doors is there anything I can do?
Also during the house renovations only one side of the house was left untouched - this wall is part of the living room. When you touch this wall its always very cold - so I'm not sure if is well insulated or not. The wall is north facing0 -

This means the boiler is on for the shortest possible time which means less gas used. If the manufactures recommends 70 this would usually mean this is the temperature at which the boiler operates at its most efficient.
If the house isn't insulated get it insulated from 1st April everybody in the UK qualifies for grants for loft, cavity, and even solid wall insulation and in most circumstances its free. This is regardless of location, income, benefits etc..
Thank you
How do I go about getting the insulation if its required??0 -

Hi the grant is called ECO or energy companies obligation and you have to go to a green deal installer or green deal provider to get the grant even though your not having a green deal it's all regulated under the same umbrella. If you Google green deal participants register you can type your postcode in their and it will come up with companies which cover your area."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
I would note down your readings every day for a couple of weeks and then do it monthly to see what you are using. The stat I would change to 17 and nudge it up if needed. Sounds a lot though for 4 months.0
