Hi,
My door handle has become loose as the holes are now too big for the screws. I need to reattach the handle so whats the best way to fill the holes so the screws can be placed back in again?
Thanks :money:

Is it a painted door, and your going to paint afterwards?
Or is it a stained door, and if so what colour wood/stain?0 -
You can use some dowling I think that's what its called is just a long piece of thin wood or just get a strip of wood and cut it to size, put wood glue or pva glue on it and insert in holes, let it dry and use a piece if sandpaper to sand it off so its even.0

I was thinking of using this from QVC.Has anyone tried it? The holes are only small. It would be pretty hard to cut out a piece of wood because the size of the hole is tiny!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

Thick paper, cardboard, cocktail sticks etc will all help.
Don't buy something, just use anything you have lying about.
Alternatively use thicker screws.
Or buy some wood filler and fill the holes, let it dry and then drill another hole with a drill bit smaller than the screws.0 -
Wood filler may work but I often find its only good for filling holes and not for putting screws back in. If holes arent too big even matchsticks shoved in very tight and chisled off may work.0

Knock matchsticks or toothpicks (wooden ones !) into the hole, first coating them in PVA wood glue. Let it dry for 24 hrs then re-drill.0

Just a thought, take it this is a solid door and not a hollow one, I have come across many fitted the wrong way round
( most door manufacturers only put timber on the one side for the latch & handles )
Many a DIYer caught out with that one
