moving plumbing - expected costs?

Hello there!

Can anyone give any advice on how much the following may cost:

Making the dining room to the kitchen and the kitchen into the dining room.

I have done some research and most people say around £5,000 as you are moving the plumbing etc.

Personally I don't think that moving the plumbing would be expensive nor a problem as the dining room used to be the kitchen so there is a drain outside that isn't used anymore, theres a waste pipe running down the property to the immediate right coming from the bathroom into another drain, so could a waste pipe for the sink just be added to this? But is it as easy as I think or more costly.

Electrics/plastering will not be a cost issue whatsoever as we have friends that are willing to help at "mates rates".

Can anyone inform me of any rough guide as to what things may cost, as if it was to run into thousands I wouldn't bother wasting a plumbers time as id know we couldn't afford it whatsoever.

Sorry if I haven't explained myself very well, we're having lots of ooooo what if we did this, and oooo what about this new house and all.

Thanks.

No one can give you a figure for this without a site visit, far too many unknowns
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • Hard to say without a site visit, but as a rough idea:
I renovated a studio flat into a one bedroom which involved stripping out (nearly) all the plumbing and installing new bathroom suite and new kitchen.

I provided the sink / taps / toilet / shower etc. The plumber provided pipework and labour.

    Total cost £800*

Get a few quotes - you've nothing to lose!

    * Plumber was a bit naff though - on reflection I should have gone with a slightly better one. His quote was about 1K.
** There's not too much to plumbing if you have decent DIY skills. In light of what I now know I would do it myself.
