Do I need Trickle Vents?

Building Control stopped making them compulsory around 4 years ago.Some Local Authorities "like" to see them fitted,I deal with 3 different Authorities and none of them recommend them.

I haven't fitted a trickle vent in any Joinery I have made since and always carry out the work with LBC Building Notice approval.Just to add none of the houses I have made windows and doors for have any damp issues because the clients open the windows........

Thanks, will do some research. The extension is going to have a big roof lantern and bifold doors so we're keen to make it as insulated as possible so if they aren't necessary I'd be inclined to leave them out.
